Fun in the Sun at Rondeberg Resort
Venturing into Clanwilliam for a weekend break might be just the thing to take the hard working week off your mind.
Clanwilliam, Western Cape is not only one of the ten oldest towns in South Africa, but perhaps also one of the prettiest ones. With its collection of white Cape Dutch homesteads set against a background of vineyards, orchards and the magnificent Cederberg Mountains, Clanwilliam is definitely a place to see for oneself especially with the many historical buildings.
The place to stay would be Rondeberg Resort, which offers holiday and overnight accommodation in the form of 10-sleeper, 6-sleeper or 4-sleeper chalets. 4 Luxury Camping sites which each include an air-conditioned 4 sleeper bedroom with own bathroom, limited kitchen facilities and own braai. There are also the 2-sleeper Stone Cottages! There are three cottages that all have their own kitchenette, bathroom and braai.
The Rondeberg Resort is nestled on the banks of the Bulshoekdam in the Olifants River Valley and only 25km from the Clanwilliam Dam, the activities you would want to check out include skiing, boating, canoeing, fishing and many more. There are even bird watching and hiking trails. A good base for those who wish to explore the West Coast and the Namaqua Area.
It is a flower paradise during spring and has the Cedar Mountains right on the doorstep.
There is a recreation hall with a fully licensed bar and big screen TV that can be used for dances, functions and conferences… so don’t let the ‘Bokke’ playing deter you from experiencing this weekend of fun, all the men will still get to watch the precious game.
There is a slipway for easy access to the dam for water sports, powerboats, ski’s, canoeing and swimming.
I felt like a kid again with the mention of a tuck shop with ice cream and sweets, and some other necessary groceries one might need such as bread and milk.
So get ready to relive some sweet childhood memories of holidays away by a dam- swimming, playing and relaxing, and to remake some new memories.
