Bloemfontein, The Rose City
Bloemfontein is widely known as “The City of Roses”. This is because more than 4 000 rose trees have been planted in the rose garden at King’s Park. The park was opened in 1925 by the Prince of Whales, Eduard VIII. The city itself is lined with thousands of rose bushes, and many homes pride themselves on having colourful gardens.
When in Bloemfontein it gives the feeling and atmosphere of peace. Residents of Bloemfontein have a strong belief in family values and quality of life. It is a clean city, therefore tourists and residents can enjoy noticeably clean streets and pavements, free of litter.
An extremely popular little nature reserve located within the city. It provides excellent views over the beautiful city.

Offering a wide variety of traditional African crafts, handmade products and much more is very popular amongst residents. It’s held every Saturday in the gardens of Kings Park.
