Berry Festival: Haenertsburg and Magoebaskloof
On the weekend of the 9th and 10th of February 2013, the Berry Festival will be hosted again by Haenertsburg and Magoebaskloof.
This Berry Festival should be on everyone’s to do list, as there is so much to do and experience that it is well worth a drive, even if you have to stay over for the night and get accommodation in Haenertsburg at Stanford Lake Lodge.
This family event has everything to keep everyone entertained for the weekend. From berry tasting and picking to berry farm tours as well as consuming delicious food that is all about berries at the local tea gardens and restaurants.
Visit the village market and buy and enjoy local products including a delectable selection of berries, pickles and preserves or visit the many stalls where you can buy organic cheeses, plants, arts and crafts, homemade delicacies such as scrumptious cakes and even buy a secondhand book or two.
There are competitions for the kids as well as a berry baking and cocktail mixing competition.
Book your Haenertsburg accommodation, and enjoy two days of fun in the sun and even add a touch of cheese to your weekend by visiting the organic cheese dairy farm and do a cheese tour.
For those of you who love to shake it up, there is the Barn dance in the village hall (a great way to work off all those delicious tarts eaten earlier that day.)
There is a great selection of beautiful accommodation around the town, so go for the two days and take in the breathtaking views from one of the viewpoints or take a leisurely walk through the natural forests.
Come and enjoy a fun-filled family weekend packed with delicious juicy berries and come home with memories that will keep you coming back year after year.
The farms participating in the festival include:
Raspberries: Kuhestan Organic Farm
Blueberries: Blueberry Heights Organic Farm
Blueberries: Cheerio Gardens
